College Transport Information
Details of the transport options for students travelling to local colleges from the Gosport and Fareham area can be found below. This information was compiled in Autumn 2024; please refer to individual college websites for confirmation of current routes and timings.
Travelling by train
If you are considering travelling to college by train, you may like to consider a 16-17 Saver card. Cards costs £30 and allow you to buy train tickets at half price for most journeys - there are no time restrictions or minimum fares. You will need to provide evidence of your age for the application, such as a valid passport, National ID card or driving licence. See 16-17 Saver.
Financial assistance
All colleges will consider applications for financial support for students from low income households. Please see the travel page links for each college to see the support available.
Barton Peveril
Direct BlueStar bus service begins and ends at Stubbington Green. Mondays only: 9:35am and 11:25am and Tuesday-Thursday: 7:30am and 9:25am. Returning at 3:10pm or 5pm.
Cycle bays are provided for bicycles, mopeds and motorcycles, free of charge and can be accessed with your student ID card.
No student parking available onsite.
Southampton Airport Parkway and Eastleigh train station are both a 20 minute walk from the college, offering services to Fareham and Portsmouth.
Bay House Sixth Form
First Bus routes 9, 9A and X5 pass by Bay House.
20 minute bicycle ride from the Gosport Ferry terminal. Cycle bays are provided, free of charge.
No student parking is available onsite. Parking permits are available for a nearby public car park which is a 2 minute walk.
The Sixth Form is well served by bicycle paths along Stokes Bay seafront, Lee-on-the-Solent seafront, Cherque Way and Broom Way, making it easily accessible by bicycle from Gosport, Lee-on-the-Solent and Stubbington.
City of Portsmouth College: Highbury Campus
The college offers financial assistance to students who meet the criteria with a free public bus pass or 70% towards the cost of travel by train or car.
The new PC1 bus departs from Fareham Leisure Centre and Fareham Bus Station. It stops at Cosham Interchange for Highbury Campus drop-offs and ends at the Sixth Form Campus - The bus schedule can be found here.
The new PC2 bus departs from Gosport War Memorial. It stops at Cosham Interchange for Highbury Campus drop-offs and ends at the Sixth Form Campus in Tangier Road. It also calls at Allway Avenue, near North Harbour Campus - The bus schedule can be found here.
Student parking is available onsite but is a first-come first-served basis.
The campus is a 12 minutes walk from Cosham station.
Buses 2, 3, 18, 20 and 23 stop near the college, with several connections from The Hard and Gunwharf if travelling via the Gosport Ferry.

City of Portsmouth College: Sixth Form Campus

The campus has two free all-day car parks, one on either side of the building which are available to students.
Bus services 13 and 14 from Portsmouth both stop close to the campus. The journey takes approximately 40 minutes by bu from Portsmouth to the college.

City of Portsmouth College: North Harbour Campus

The X4 and X5 Solent Rangers can be taken from Fareham Bus Station to Racecourse Lane. It is then a minutes walk to the Campus.
The campus is a 30 minute walk from Portchester station and a 30 minute walk from Cosham station.
Fareham College
Bishopsfield Road (main campus) is a 10 minute walk from Fareham train station, and 20 minute walk from Fareham bus station.
CEMAST and CETC campuses are located at the Solent Airport. A bus link goes from Whiteley down to CEMAST and CTEC.
Regular bus services also run from Fareham train station to CEMAST and CTEC.
Student car and motorbike parking is available onsite, a parking permit is required and parking is limited.
The college is well connected with bicycle paths and there are secure, covered bicycle racks at all locations.
Havant and South Downs College - HSDC (Havant Campus)
The college is an 15 minute walk from both Havant train station and Havant bus station.
A 16 minute train journey from Fareham to Havant train station.
First Bus SD5 direct bus service leaves Gosport bus station at 7:52am, Elson Church at 8:10am, and Fareham bus station at 8:39am, arriving at college at 9:25am. Return journey leaves college at 4:40pm, arriving at Gosport bus station at 6:02pm.

Havant and South Downs College - HSDC (South Downs Campus)
The First Group services SD4 and SD5 are direct routes which take 30 minutes from Fareham to South Downs Campus.
Stagecoach 37 bus leaves Havant bus station every 15 mins, and takes 9 mins to get to South Downs campus.
First Bus SD5 direct bus service leaves Gosport bus station at 7:52am, Elson Church at 8:10am, and Fareham bus station at 8:41am, arriving at college at 9:15am. Return journey arrives at Gosport bus station at 6:02pm.

Itchen College
The 193 bus leaves Fort Brockhurst Roundabout at 8am and Rowner Road at 8:12am. There are many additional stops along the way in the Gosport area, and the driver must be flagged down. Bus arrives at college at 9:20am and departs at 4:10pm. There is also a lunchtime service both from and to Gosport.

Sholing train station is a 15 minute walk which can be taken from Fareham Train Station.
Military Mentors
Military Mentors is based on the Bridgemary School campus in Gosport, with some learning taking place at Fareham College.
15 minute bicycle ride from Bay House.
Nearest bus route is the Eclipse, with a 9 minute walk from the nearest stop.

Peter Symonds College
The college is a5 minute walk from Winchester train station. Direct trains take approximately 1 hour from Portsmouth and 30 minutes from Fareham.

Sparsholt College
The Gosport bus (operated by Xelabus) leaves the Cocked Hat roundabout at 7:07am, and passes through Lee-on-the-Solent and Stubbington before arriving at college at 9am. The bus arrives back at Gosport at 6:15pm.

The cost is £885 per year, which can be spread over a series of instalments. Financial assistance may be available for low income households.

St Vincent College
The college is approximately a 23 minute walk from Gosport bus station.
A number 9, 9A, E1 and E2 bus is available at Gosport bus station to Methodist Church with a 12 minute walk.
Student car, moped and bicycle parking available onsite.
UTC
The college is a 10 minute walk from both Cosham and Hilsea train stations.
No student car parking available onsite. Student motorbike and moped parking available onsite, and covered bicycle storage.
There is no college bus service but discounts are available on First Bus and Stagecoach for UTC students.
Numerous direct buses from Portsmouth Harbour stop by the college, including the 3, 21, 23. The journey takes approximately 25 mins.
