Post 18

Careers Conversations

What to expect in a 1:1 Post-18 Careers Conversation:

The Post-18 meetings are an opportunity for students to talk about the different choices and places of study available to them after Upper Sixth/Year 13.

What will be discussed?

Who will the session be with?

Students will be speaking with a fully qualified and impartial Careers Adviser - this is likely to be Sue or Benia, but may be Amanda or Julia.

Where will the session take place?

The meeting will be in either Careers Room 1 (through the double doors, on the right) or Careers Room 2/Meeting Room 3 at the bottom of O block. This will be stated in the emails sent to students

How long will the Session last?

45 minutes.

Is there anything to prepare in advance?

Students may like to give some thought to their next steps before the meeting and come prepared with some questions.  We will be interested in what students are studying and predicted grades, together with any career goals. We will send notes afterwards with details of what we discussed, together with some useful links.

Date, time location of the session?

Parents/carers and students will receive an email home the week before the session. We will put a reminder on Tutor Bulletins and Tutors will give students a slip with all the details on.

Don't forget!

This is a valuable opportunity to have a focussed conversation with a fully trained, impartial and qualified Careers professional!

This is time dedicated to each student as an individual, and may be the only opportunity during their education journey to have time focussed and tailored to them. If a student cannot make the session due to illness, we will try to reschedule as soon as possible. To reschedule, please visit the Careers Office upstairs in O block (next to O4), or email us at careers@kgabayhouse.uk.
